New Summer Season Approaching!

A short summer league at Boondall commences Sunday 4 March until end of April.  There will be an A Grade Season and a B Grade Season. 

If you have not gotten an email invitation regarding the season and you wish to participate, let us know via Contact Form or by emailing info@brisbanebuccaneers.com by Sunday 26th Feb 2012 4 pm.

Matt Boucher hosts Bucs Practice on Tuesday

For all members who are registered in 2011...We are pleased to advised you that we have visiting coach who is happy to assist Buccs members to enhance their hockey skills as well as improve techniques such as power skating.

Matt Boucher is not just a coach but he has an extensive knowledge of the techique and skills that ice hockey demands and therefore we gladly welcome his offer to help us.

Due to Acacia Ridge renovation, we are inviting few of Stars members to participate in the practice.

This practice will help you in preparation for the upcoming winter league. 

To participate in this practice, standard safety hockey equipment is MUST. (SHOULDER PADS, Neck Guard, Mouth Guard, Visor/cage)

You are required to arrive for a 7 PM start for nets and off-ice stretch / warmup then Matt will be running the On-Ice Session from 7:45 PM to 9 PM.

The cost for this session is $20 and is only available Tonight! 21 February 2012.

 The Brisbane Buccaneers Ice Hockey Club will be holding it’s AGM on Sunday 11^th March 3pm at Boondall rink.

All members are invited to attend.

 Members are encouraged to consider taking on a role within the committee as some of the present committee will be standing down at this AGM

The Rusty Blades Triumphant Again!

The Blades have again made Brisbane and Australia proud, winning the Gold medal in Ice Hockey at the New Zealand Masters, hosted in Dunedin, New Zealand. The boys overcame competition from Adelaide and Melbourne as well as a number of New Zealand teams. Congratulations to the Rusty Blades. Three time champions!! Previous Story Dunedin (Tuesday, 22 December, 2009) – New Zealand’s and Australia’s tussle for dominance on the ice will continue at the Dunedin Ice Stadium during the ACC New Zealand Masters Games in early February. New Zealand’s Ice Blacks beat Australia for the very first time in late August this year at the Dunedin Ice Stadium and New Zealand’s Masters teams want to make it a winning streak. Four ice hockey teams from Australia have so far entered the Masters Games matching the four teams from New Zealand.  The teams are from Adelaide, two from Melbourne, Brisbane, Queenstown, Gore, Christchurch and Dunedin. ACC NZ Masters Games Manager Aaron Joy said he knew of two teams from Auckland which may also enter. Ice hockey was offered as a Masters Games sport for the first time in 2008 - the last time the games were held in Dunedin.  Six teams entered then. It is not part of the games when they are in Wanganui as the city does not have a suitable facility. Ice hockey co-ordinator Joyce Miller, of Dunedin, said the Australian competitors had been playing the game at Masters’ level for a lot longer than their New Zealand counterparts. “They can be very competitive,â€Â Mrs Miller said.  “The heat will be on absolutely.â€Â The event was won in 2008 by the team from Brisbane with Dunedin’s Penguins a close runner up.
